At an IDP camp

It’s the jump-around spirit
Possessing these kids
That makes you forget,
Even once, that this is an IDP camp

 Their high spirits
Blind you to the one fact you ought to know:
Here are they who were puked
These people are the vomit of our nation
And the nation is such a decent dog
Never going back to clean its mess

But eyes cannot be fooled
The torn titling tents perched
On a muddy earth with dirt streams
Confront them rather bluntly

The noses too cannot be fooled
They twitch to dense foul smells
From full-to-the-brim mud pit latrines
And rained on, peed on, poo-ed on, beddings

And the sight of tired, worn out mothers and grandies,
Pierces pores in your soul
Making it drown in sorrow and shame
This injustice reaches your insides
Faster than the hypocrisy of our leaders!
